The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier has a very high maintenance coat. It is a single coat of hair, no undercoat, so it does not shed. Daily grooming and regular trimming are a must. The wheaten terrier requires a very strict, consistent home maintenance schedule as well as frequent professional grooming. Some customers will choose a short, lower maintenance cut.

 If home maintenance is done properly; full service grooming is recommended every 3 weeks, if not professional grooming is recommended at least every 1-2 weeks.
